Fixed Immediate Annuities are purchased with a single premium and payout begins shortly after the premium is paid. These annuities are permanent and cannot be changed. For Deferred Annuities, payout begins at a future specified date which allows for accumulation. These annuities can be purchased with either a single premium or periodic payments. Contracts for deferred annuities may be surrendered or exchanged for another annuity.
